You may need a good quality camera laptop bag to load the weight that burdens you when you carry all your expensive digital SLR equipment, your laptop, and all the myriad accessories, cables, cleaning supplies, etc. We earnestly claim to absolutely need it all on every photography trip, may it be long or short but many of us are not up to the task of shouldering. Make sure the strap is strong and tough enough to handle all the load; may it be a backpack or a messenger type of bag. There are some cases wherein the bag is still good to use but the strap is already worn-out. Some camera laptop bags are comfortable to carry for winter wearing but for summer, there are some camera laptop bag straps that are little rough on your neck if it hits bare skin or through a thin shirt. Having zipper on top was not a bother to most people even though it does require 2 hands to open. But some travelers would much prefer to have small magnets to hold it together.

Checking Weight distribution

For backpack type of camera laptop bag, check where the laptop compartment is placed. It is not recommended if it is located against your back. This only means the lack of a waist belt/hip. Weight distribution often results in a lot of bounce and flex to the laptop compartment. Padded handles are important to protect your hands and padded straps are needed to protect your shoulders from uneven weight distribution.

Checking the fabric

If you’re looking for a lightweight camera laptop bag, stay away from bags that have layers of heavy fabrics. The type of fabric materials use in a bag would initially shows how heavy that bag is even without your equipments. Leather bags are usually heavy.
